What is Pulp Therapy?
The pulp is the soft tissue inside each tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. When it's damaged by deep decay or an injury, it can become inflamed or infected, causing pain and swelling.
Pulp therapy helps save the tooth, relieve discomfort, and support healthy tooth development, especially in growing children.
Signs Your Child May Need Pulp Therapy
Contact our office if your child experiences:
·Ongoing or unexplained tooth pain
·Pain that worsens at night
·Sensitivity to hot or cold foods
·Swelling around a tooth or gums
Types of Pulp Therapy
Depending on the extent of the damage, we may recommend:
·Pulpotomy: Removes the infected pulp from the top of the tooth while keeping the healthy root intact. The tooth is then protected with a crown.
·Pulpectomy: Removes all infected pulp from the tooth and root canals before sealing and restoring the tooth with a crown.
Our doctors will recommend the most appropriate treatment to relieve pain, preserve your child's tooth, and protect their long-term oral health.
